Day Fifteen of My NaNoWriMo – The Halfway Mark

We’re now officially fifteen days into the month of November! It’s amazing how time continues to move forward when you have the ability to look back on it in hindsight.

Another three days and another opportunity to continue writing. This stretch of days, unfortunately, wasn’t anywhere near my most productive.

So far, I’ve only had one day where I didn’t write anything; and the goal is to write SOMETHING each day!

The proof is in the screenshot. Overall, I average, at minimum, 500 words but the 12th and 14th weren’t too kind to me at all in that regard. I won’t make any excuses to why I couldn’t push out more. The mental drive to produce more than that on those days simply wasn’t there. I looked forward to not staring at a computer screen writing when I got home because I spent the last ten hours doing so at work. It’s important to take a break from electronics at times.

Even with the slow progress, I’m still happy at the fact that I’m now almost 10,000 words in. Turning off my internal editor while I was typing was tough in the beginning but I don’t even think about it anymore. I just want to get the words out; and I’m well aware of and comfortable with how atrocious my first draft will probably be before sitting down to revise and refine it. The most important thing right now is to get the material out of my head and into something tangible that I can work from.

What I like even more so is that people like Scrawls and Spirits and Beardtil6Pack are participating in their own way, motivated to make the most of their time accomplishing their own goals. Check them out when you have the chance. Have to keep each other going! #DestroytheDoubt

Until next time!
