NaNoWriMo Update

Easier said than done. But I’m taking a lesson from all this.

I’ve seriously been slacking on my periodic updates that I was supposed to slip out every few days.

We’re into the last full week in November and I don’t even have 25,000 words for my NaNoWriMo novel…in fact I’m pretty far from it. So far that I’m even embarrassed to mention my word count; and not even my daily 100 words can provide inspiration because I haven’t even started them for November yet.

Ladies and gentleman…I think it’s pretty obvious that this year’s attempt is NOT going to be successful. I had lofty dreams, attempting to plan this out knowing full well that I’d be out of the country for almost two weeks for a wedding with limited time to even devote to writing while there. Then to assume I’d come back and fall back in line, catching up on over 10,000 words, even when I know I’m not a fast writer. I had way more confidence in myself than I realized!

Not for nothing, I still have a full week-and-a-half before November 30th (one less day than last year for NaNoWriMo I think!). That’s not me saying that I’ll pull off the impossible, especially with Thanksgiving and family responsibilities coming up. But I can at least crank out a few more pages to see what I have at the end of this whole thing.

What do I hope to gain at this point? More words than I would’ve had simply not doing it; and that’s the important part for me now. Staying consistent and actually putting action into the plans that I make when it comes to my writing. The story¬†for this novella came to me a few years ago and it feels like I was waiting for some opportunity to finally put finger to keyboard and type it out. But more on that at the end of the month.

I’ll post another update next week. I promise.
